For all Yamaha XJ models with the YICS passage below the carburetors.
Including the XJ1100, XJ900, XJ900F XJ750, XJ700, XJ650, XJ550, XJ500, XJ400 Maxim and Seca motorcycles with the YICS system.
The YICS Eliminator tool is used to disable the YICS system for some period of time, to be determined by the user, permanently if they want. The tool is installed in the YICS passage and the passage bolt is reinstalled and tightened to the proper torque setting. The YICS Eliminator tool provides a complete seal between the YICS ports in the cylinder head. You are now able to synchronize and adjust the carburetors to the proper specifications. After adjusting and synchronizing the carburetors, you can keep the YICS Eliminator tool installed in the engine. It is recommended that you keep the tool installed until you are certain that the carbs are adjusted properly. The motorcycle can then be ridden with the YICS Eliminator installed, making it possible to obtain an accurate plug reading.
The YICS Eliminator is a quality tool made from aluminum alloy with precision ground grooves (see photo). The tool comes pre-fitted with Viton o-rings meeting SAE and ASTM specifications for durability. These O-rings can withstand the high heat and chemicals encountered in a motorcycle engine. The YICS Eliminator tool is ready to be installed right out of the box, and comes complete with instructions on the proper installation method.
Please Note:
You will need to make sure that the passage has been thoroughly cleaned, as pointed out in the instructions.  If not, you may have some problems with the O-rings.  This however “will not” interfere with the tools ability to do its job. That is why the O-rings are placed in pairs. This along with the lubricant placed on the tool before installation, ensures that there is a good seal throughout the passage.
The machine screw pictured in the photo is used to install and remove the tool from the YICS cylinder passage.
