Stamped & casting numbers are shown in pictures. We did not see a number on the ratchet clutch. Online manuals indicate that Mercury used these parts in the 1970's & 1980's on similar Hp models.

    Used 1979 Mercury 40 hp 2 stroke lower leg gears: forward gear casting number 54076, Reverse Gear with stamp number 43-79158 and Pinion Gear with stamp number 43-55607. Stamped & casting numbers are shown in pictures. Online manuals indicate that Mercury used these parts in the 1970's & 1980's on similar Hp models.
    All of these parts came from the same outboard lower leg. Calipers and measuring tape are not included but only shown for dimensions. To avoid injury, harm or malfunction we suggest that all parts should be installed by a certified outboard motor mechanic.
