  • Condition: Used 1971 Mercury 40 hp 2 stroke Lower Leg Housing with casting number 1626-3927 (as shown in picture). This lower leg housing is empty, without the gears, as shown in pictures. Comes with shifter lower shaft and it appears that this lower leg has been repainted. Since this lower leg is more than 10 years old we suggest that all seals and gaskets should be replaced. See attached pictures for dimensions.

    Description

    Used 1971 Mercury 40 hp 2 stroke Lower Leg Housing with casting number 1626-3927 (as shown in picture). This lower leg housing is empty, without the gears, as shown in pictures. Comes with shifter lower shaft and it appears that this lower leg has been repainted. Since this lower leg is more than 10 years old we suggest that all seals and gaskets should be replaced.  See attached pictures for dimensions.
    The oil drained from this lower leg looked good. This lower leg housing was attached to a 1971 Mercury 40hp two stroke outboard motor with serial number 3050171 and was assembled in Canada. According to online manuals the Mercury 40 Hp outboard motors with serial numbers 2874764 to 3336257 were quite similar.  Calipers and measuring tape are not included but only shown for dimensions. The roll of packing tape shown in picture is not included. To avoid injury, harm or malfunction we suggest that all parts should be installed by a certified outboard motor mechanic.
